Lily here to tell you about our trip to Pere Marquette.  My favorite part was when we learned about the animals in the area.  Ranger Scott told us about the deadliest and the least harming animals.  The deadliest was a rattlesnake.  Don't worry, people rarely get bitten!  Ranger Scott tried to play a trick on all of us!  He told us about deadly snakes and then he asked for a volunteer who was really brave to stick their hand in a bag.  Most of us thought there was a deadly snake in there.  I thought so too!  Ranger Scott told all of us there would be a prize for sticking our hand in the bag.  I raised my hand because I wanted that prize!  Well, watch the video below and see what happened!

Hi my name is Caroline and I would like to tell you about these cool landforms that I made.  I was having so much fun!  I was making landforms with playdoh!  I watched the teacher, Mrs. Schuh, show us pictures of real landforms on the Smartboard and then I made each of them little.  I actually didn't just smoosh them and remake them into a different landform.  I just kept them the same way they were and I had so much fun!  Look at the picture below, can you guess which landform is a mountain, a mesa, a valley, a strait, a gulf, a waterfall, and a desert?

Hi my name is Isabella and I'm going to tell you about what my friend Yanivs mom talked about to my class.  Her name is Mrs.Michelson and she showed us Israeli dance. My friend Lily all ready new the dance because Mrs.Michelson was showing us a  Jewish dance.  After the dance we all had fun!  We also got to try Challa bread.  It was thick bread, and very sweet.  We learned that the dance was to celebrate the harvest in Israel.  I thought the bread was one of the best things I ever ate!

Hi my is name Colin Connor.  in social studies Miss.Katinas and Mrs.Schuh took us on a journey to Germany.  Miss.Katinas taught us about the clothes the Germans wear.  We made Bavarian hats.  They are hats that Germans wear on special occasions.  Mrs. Schuh taught us about school in Germany.  We learned about candy cones, or Schultute in German.  They are used when a German kid goes to school for the first time in First Grade.  The candy cone is as big as they are!  The parents want to wish their child a "sweet start" to school!  I am German and so this is great stuff to learn about what happens in Germany.

My name is Biruk Teshome.  I want you to learn about  writing. We made a hart in writing and we wrote what we love in the hart.  In writing we think about what we care about and we put what we like in the hart, like we love Reading.  We are writing persuasive letters and writing about what we care about to change the world.  I like to change the world!  I like this subject!

Sup, my name is James Landau and I'm one of many Schuh stars.  I want to tell you about my class.  We do a lot of math, writing and reading.  We use number order which number seven is blank she doesn't go here anymore.  There are 16 kids in my class.  I really like math because it is my favorite subject in school.  It helps my brain at things, in fact you probably do math everyday!  The next thing I like is reading.  It is really fun because I have awesome books like Big Nate.  Lincoln Pierce wrote it and it's really funny.  The next thing I like is writing because it helps he do a lot of things because well, we are working on writing letters to persuade other people for sometimes doing things that change the world.  I am writing about reduce, reuse, recycle!  I hope everyone else likes it!

The Compost Bear is Born!

Hi! my name is Anette! Im writing about our compost bear. We reused a plastic animal cracker contier.I pealed of the sticker that said Animal Crackers, and decorated a piece of paper, then I taped It on.I wrote 'Feed me organic food, I'm a veterinarian' and 'feed me organic leftovers'.  Composting is when you take your organic leftovers and throw them in a small bin or something and wait for a few days until they get a little bit moldy.  After they are ready, dump them in the soil to make the soil richer.  It is important to have rich soil to have plants and trees grow better.  Our plan is to ask our principal to see if we can have our own little garden outside of our classroom window.  We care about making our environment better!

Hi, my name is Emma,I want to tell you about dot day!So, I bet you are wondering what is dot day? Dot day is a day were you eat dots, wear dots and celebrate dots.Because a girl named vashti thought she was no good at art, but, her teacher told her to make a mark , and vashti made a dot.And she found her dot over her teachers' chair! So vashti thought I can make a better dot then that! So she made more dots! And vashti even made a dot by not making a dot! We learned from Vashti that everyone is good at art!  So  we made some dots with oil pastels,And some of us made a dot by not making a dot!we used glitter too! And had donut holes to eat and we put glitter on our dots.  We will hang our dots around our room to remind us of dot day!  We learned in Social Studies that our dots are like our cultural identity.  We fit into many groups of people, but we are still our own person.

Hi my name is Cece. Today I want to talk to you about archery. When I first picked up the bow I thought I  can not do this because I had butter flys in my stomach but when i made it i was so surprised! Because I made it and I was so proud of my self I new I could do it. But I didn't believe in my self.  I really want to do it again.  I had a great time! Now I want to brag because I had a fun time doing it.

Hi,I am Lexie!  I would like to share about BARTERING! Oh, that's one of our spelling words! BARTERING was used way,way long time ago. Farmers used BARTERING, since money wasn't invented. For example:a farmer would say to another farmer ,"Would you like to trade, six sheep for two cows?"  That's what BARTERING is!  And guess what? We, SCHUH STARS, tried it out for our selves!!!It was SOO fun!  Some objects were actually very useful.  Some people were super excited!  It was one fun morning, but I bet we could do it again someday! I said no. Then I tried to put my hand in there again but Mr.Scoot scared me again!  The third time I actually felt the fur and tried to guess what it was and someone in the audience said "deer skin."  It was so fun and I am so glad Mr. Scott picked me!

  • Hi I'm Michael and I want to tell you about our field trip on Friday.  The bus ride was so long!  When we got there, we met Ranger Scott.   Ranger Scott was talking about different kinds of owls, eagles and birds.  First thing we saw was a building and my friend Lexie talked about a building for our video.  Second we went hiking and Ranger Scott talked a lot about the rocks and landforms.  We walked through the forest, we saw a valley, and a pretty pond.  We took a lot of water breaks. During the hike we saw some snakes and we ate lunch.  We went back on the bus and I talked about a bridge for our video.  A lot of kids fell a sleep including me!!!!!!  it was my BEST I MEAN BEST FIELD TRIP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Mrs. Schuh ROCKS.

Today in 3s we did sidewalk chalk fractions, we compared equivalent fractions, we showed different fractions, we learned how each fraction has a equivalent fraction to compare. Our sidewalk chalk showed how fractions are equivalent to each other. We learned how to make equivalent fractions and how to double the numerator and the denominator. We learned how to compare lots of fractions.
