Teachers learning from our students

I was excited to attend the 2015 METC educational technology conference and learn from a few of our very own students! Glenridge students did a great job sharing their experience with Robotics!

Being a Teacher by Ceci

I got to teach the class .  I felt like a real teacher.  You feel like a teacher when the class listens to you.  And they are happy to learn what you learned about.   I studied about New York and I worked very hard,it seems like all that hard work payed off.  If you think about it you are doing the same thing as your teacher.  You're making a google slide, having the whole class listen to you.  I had 12 slides (lots of learning).    Now you can hear about the teaching I was wearing a homemade  I heart NY shirt.   My favorite slide was niagra falls because I went there.  At the end I showed a song called New York New York.  Thats what it felt like to teach the class.    A little bit ago I did another teach a lesson to the class.  The reason is we as a class didn’t  choose to read about the topic  it ( kakapos) so,  on my own I learned about it.  Before that Sara and Julianne did electric eels.    I learned so much! Ava did California we learned about her and the state! (she grew up there.)   Then Sara strikes back  with BAR TAGS with Lucia.   A great learning tool.   Liam and Liam (salt & pepper)  Are still working on one( a surprise)   I hope you  are inspired by my awesome blog post.

Solar S'mores

Lets make smores!
Have you ever tried making s'mores on a solar cooker? I’ll tell you’ it iseasy!I bet you thought it looks so hard to make a solar cooker, but it’s easier than you think. Did you know that the junk in your garage can make delicious s'mores? Thats right all you really need is some tinfoil and a box. (and of course a marshmallow, a hershey, and two gram crackers). Put it outside and you have a s'more!
lets make one thing clear… DO NOT WASTE PRECIOUS TREES!!

We are 100 % Smart by Josie

                        100% Smart Posters!
               Get your smart on!
By: Josie
Can you come up with a good definition for smart? When Mrs. Schuh told us to come up with a definition for smart we couldn't.  When you get into third grade you will see what you are best at or what your “strong” at.                 The “strengths” that there are are Music smart, Art smarts , People smarts, Nature smarts, Self smarts, Body smarts, Logic smarts and Word smarts.
When Mrs. Schuh and you, know what smart or “strong” there is a color for each smart, Art smart is orange, Number smart is blue, Music smart is pink, People smart is red, Nature smart is brown, Body smart is purple,  Word smart is green, so you will get the color that goes with your smart.
When you are done with your smart poster Mrs. Schuh will hang it up on the wall so everyone can see what your 100% smart is!

Dot Day by Julianne

We celebrated Dot Day on September  15,2014.  Dot Day is a day where we all come together to celebrate the mark we want to make!  Our class also celebrated the differences that make us unique!
For example:  Maddie was born in Alabama that is really cool. Sara was born in Connecticut-that is really far!! Ashleigh was bald in till she was three that is a long time!!  Julianne was born Maryland cool right?  Julia was the only person in her family that had blond hair.  Do you want blond hair?  Adithi was born in India- that's even farther than Connecticut wow! Liam(Salt) was born when his dad had cancer-glad he doesn't have cancer anymore!  Pepper is the dislocating king!  How does he do it? Dot Day was a great day to celebrate ourselves, but also learn about others too!!!

Enviroscape by maddie

Hi I am Maddie!
i am talking about our enviroscape activity in Social Studies.  We explored how humans affect the environment.  Humans pollute the environment in many ways-littering, not cleaning up dirt dog waste and grass clippings.  All of this stuff gets into the water from our sewers!

This is us polluting the town the polltion is soy sauce
This is my friend adithi polluting the town with the soy sauce
This is all the pollotion isn't that bad what if we did that ew i would not want to live on this planet
This is when we were making it rain with sqrit bolltes all the polltion went to the lake
This is all the pollotion in the lake the town is dirty poor town :)  Here is how we can help-plant more trees or plants, just don't litter, and be kind to the Earth by picking up!

Our First Teamwork Party By Lucia

Hi! I’m Lucia, and I’m here to tell you about our first TEAMWORK party! How we had to earn it is every time we were doing something really good, like waiting patiently for Mrs. Schuh to finish something, we would get a Student Point. But every time we were not waiting patiently or something like that, Mrs. Schuh would get a Teacher Point. Mrs. Schuh does not like getting Teacher Points! Every time we win in Student Points, we earn a letter of the word TEAMWORK. Then we put it up on the wall. Once we spelled T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K, we would get a TEAMWORK party! When we earned all the letters, everybody got excited! But we handled our excitement well. Good job, everybody! Once we got calmed down, we got on the star rug for Brain Break and voted. Two choices, BYOE (bring your own electronics) Day and PJ Day, tied! We voted again. PJ Day won!

                 *                           *                        *

The day of PJ day, everyone was admiring each other’s PJ’s and accents, such as slippers or a hat. Me and Ceci bought Comfortable Seating, which is a blanket or a pillow which you keep all the time in our classroom to make your seat comfy, with our Starbucks, which you might know about from Curriculum Night! I’m not sure, though.

We had lots of fun! Even Mrs. Schuh had her jammies on! See the pictures below for visual info about our first teamwork party! Bye!
